The band’s good friend, Vicki Peterson, from The Bangles, was their first choice to sing backing vocals on the track. Also joining Vicki and the Gurus on backing vocals is John Cowsill from the legendary Californian Sunshine Pop band, The Cowsills,
Get Out Of Dodge is a song to all the non-conformists out there - anyone who feels outnumbered and can't fit in with the unreasonable expectations of the crowd.
Get Out Of Dodge was recorded at the same time as Hoodoo Gurus recorded their anti-Trump anthem, Hung Out To Dry, in June 2020.
Hung Out To Dry is featured on the B-Side of this 7” single; all housed in a full colour sleeve and pressed on heavyweight vinyl.
Both songs were recorded at Harry Vanda’s Hercules Street Studios in Surry Hills (where the band had previously recorded Answered Prayers). Once again, Wayne Connolly engineered and provided valuable production assistance.
